Job Description

The Senior Manager, Warehouse is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of multiple warehouse facilities, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and timely delivery of products to Pilot Travel Centers and external customers. This role oversees warehouse operations, distribution strategy, inventory management, transportation and freight negotiations, systems implementation, financial performance, and team development across multiple locations. The position plays a critical role in driving operational excellence, process improvement, and customer service while ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the operations of multiple warehouse facilities, ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment and delivery of products to internal and external customers.
  • Develop and implement warehouse layouts, operational processes, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
  • Direct warehouse management system (WMS), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and transportation management system (TMS) implementations and process optimization efforts.
  • Manage inventory, material supplies, equipment purchases, and maintenance contracts necessary to support warehouse operations.
  • Oversee freight procurement and negotiations across multiple sites to ensure cost-effective transportation solutions and service reliability.
  • Develop, coach, and lead managers and supervisors to build organizational capability and achieve operational objectives.
  • Manage warehouse-related operating expenses, including labor, overtime, temporary staffing, and other SG&A costs.
  • Establish and execute operational strategies that support business objectives and drive performance across multiple locations.

  • Provides leadership through subordinate managers and supervisors.
  • Creates an environment focused on accountability, engagement, safety, customer service, and continuous improvement.
  • Aligns resources, staffing, and operational priorities to support business goals across multiple facilities.

Scope and Impact

  • Contributes to and helps shape business strategy across multiple warehouse locations.
  • Impacts operational performance across Pilot Travel Centers and external customers through product delivery, inventory management, and supply chain execution.
  • Exercises broad influence through internal leadership, external vendor partnerships, and transportation providers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Seven or more years of progressive warehouse, distribution, supply chain, or logistics leadership experience.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations and leading leaders preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, distribution, transportation, and logistics.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing WMS, ERP, and TMS platforms.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and experience managing operating budgets and expenses.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills, particularly related to freight and transportation services.
  • Ability to solve complex operational challenges through strategic, conceptual, and innovative thinking.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to collaborate effectively at all organizational levels.
  • This position requires candidates to be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
